Buckhaven Community Garden

Omar Crescent, Buckhaven KY8 1DS

The Buckhaven Growing Space has been open for over 12 years and was started from a neglected play park. There are now over 120 Scottish heritage variety fruit trees planted as an orchard within the garden. There is also a polytunnel with a grapevine. All of this is maintained by a mixture of people who volunteer their time to gardening and other projects out with the garden such as tree planting and litter picking. In the Growing Space we have several bee hives and we engage in other climate friendly pursuits.

Methil Community Garden

Kirkland Drive, Methil KY8 3HX

The Methil garden has been here for 3 years now.  Together we have strived to ensure that it is a safe, relaxed place for volunteers and groups to come and enjoy nature and growing. We believe that all worries are left at the gate so that people from all walks of life and ages can use the garden to learn, grow, harvest and generally keep the garden well maintained. The garden is a fun place to build confidence through teamwork, mutual support and shared skills. All who come are given a warm welcome.

Climate-friendly Food. Holding workshops and working with people personally, we take a look at food and how various choices we make can influence the climate. This includes things such as reducing meat and dairy consumption, but also help in reducing food waste more generally week to week.
In 2021 we held the first ever, Fife Food Summit. It was a great success with lots of people in attendance to learn about how we can be more climate-friendly with our food.
